A little history: My parents reared me on a farm just outside Delta, UT . . . the greatest place on Earth to be a kid. Mom let us take mud baths in the garden and Dad headed irrigation water, water fights regularly. Under such provisions, my three brothers and I learned to love each other to the moon and back. We all attended Utah State University because it's the best University in the world. Go Aggies! I served an LDS mission in Singapore and East Malaysia. Words can't describe how fabulous the experience was. Now I'm married to the hunkiest man alive. We spent our first four years honeymooning in the Washington DC are, where Ben attended Georgetown Law School and I taught inner city 8th-10th grade English. We welcomed our darling Reid into the world just before moving on to Oshkosh, WI, where my husband works as a State Public Defender. We bought our first home in 2012 and after ten years of renting we couldn't be happier! Our precious little Nell arrived shortly after all the boxes were unpacked. I love staying at home with the kiddos, and am eternally grateful for all God has blessed me with.
My Religion: I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints (church members are commonly referred to as Mormons). I know we are all the spiritual offspring of a loving Heavenly Father. I know He has an eternal plan for families. I know Jesus Christ and his life giving sacrifice are crucial to this plan. I know that both the Bible and The Book of Mormon testify of our Heavenly Father's plan and of Christ's miraculous atonement. If you'd like to learn more, go here, or to obtain a free copy of The Book of Mormon, go here.
My politics: I fight the title "liberal" or "progressive", but I can admit defeat. I'm a liberal mind living a conservative lifestyle. I value much about conservative living and republican principles, but I just can't get on board with GOP leaders. I do agree with Aristotle, that "it is a mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." I strive to understand the arguments of both sides, so that my conclusions are born from facts and my disagreements are polite.
Books that changed my life: The Book of Mormon, read it everyday and you'll experience miracles, I promise. The New Testament (am I bad for not including the Old?). The Bell Jar, Pride and Prejudice, My Antonia, and Jane Eyre are fabulous again and again. Animal Farm, Night, Anna Karenina, and Wild Swans empower me with knowledge I admire daily.
