About Me

First thing you must know, I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints.  You can use the word "Mormon" but I prefer Later-day Saint or LDS.  This isn't just a lifestyle or a culture, it is so much larger than life.  I've never doubted the truth of The Book of Mormon or the modern day Prophets. I know where I was before this Earth and I know what His plan for my family is after this temporary state.  I know Christ suffered for the sins of man, and I know I'll never be able to repay him this debt.  I just try my hardest by living his standards or repenting and trying harder when I fall short.  If you want to know more, just ask me; or visit lds.org

A little history:  My parents reared me on a farm just outside Delta, UT . . . the greatest place on Earth to be a kid. Mom let us take mud baths in the garden and Dad headed irrigation water, water fights regularly. Under such provisions, my three brothers and I learned to love each other tons. We all attended Utah State University because it's the best University in the world. I love it! Go Aggies! I served an LDS mission in Singapore and East Malaysia. Words can't describe how fabulous the experience was.  Now I'm married to the hunkiest man alive.  We spent our first four years honeymooning in the Washington DC are, where Ben attended Georgetown Law School and I taught inner city 8th-10th grade English.  We welcomed our darling Reid into the world just before moving on to Oshkosh, WI.  Now Ben works as a state public defender, and I get to spend all day loving on our baby.  I look at my life and wonder why God has chosen to bless me with so much.

My politics:  I fight the title "liberal."  I like to think I lie more toward the center, but I'm pretty stubbornly Democrat most ways I look at it.  I love to see both sides of the picture, because I truly want to find myself more toward the middle.  Plus, I love to understand how people think and totally admire the "we agree to disagree" method of debate.

Books that changed my life:  The Book of Mormon, read it everyday and you'll experience miracles, I promise.  The Bell Jar, Pride and Prejudice, My Antonia, and Jane Eyre are fabulous again and again.  Animal Farm, Night, Anna Karenina, and Wild Swans empower me with knowledge I admire daily.

TV shows I can't live without:  Friends, Modern Family, 30 Rock and Parks and Rec.  I've always liked murder mystery types, but they come on so late at night I go to sleep with all the wrong thoughts.  Bones might not be the best one, but it scares me the least, so currently -- that's what I'm into.

My movie tastes:  I love old classics, It's a Wonderful Life is my personal favorite.  I memorized every line in A League of Their Own by age 11.  Slumdog Millionaire and Life is Beautiful are my rated R weaknesses (Later-day Saints are commanded not to watch rated R films).  I think Stardust is brilliant and totally underrated, and I don't even like fantasy or science fiction stuff.  Chic flics like Australia, The Proposal, You've Got Mail, and An Affair to Remember never get old.
