Ambitious

So Marie invited me to join this cite called Shelfari, and I LOVE IT! I spent all last night trying to get my list up to 100. I had to go all the way back to the seventh grade, but I've almost found 100 books that I've read. I actually have a little gizmo gadget thing at the bottom of this blog. It shows the 11 books that I give 5 full stars too. I LOVE READING!

So today Ben told me about this list, the 100 best novels of the 20th century. He and one of his law buddies set a goal to read all 100. I decided that was too much for me, I'm more of a 50 gal. Plus, I didn't just want of the 20th century . . . I want to read the 50 best books of all time. So I googled it and of course I found several different lists. So I had to spend like two hours finding books that were repeated on each of the lists. Eventually I came up with a list of 54. And I've set a goal to read all 54 in the next ten years. Went and got a library card tonight! The reason I'm sharing this with all the poor souls who read my blog isn't to brag, but (as the saying goes) a goal not written is only a dream. And I really want to make this happen, so each of you are responsible for holding me to it. Luckily I've already read 17 of the books. What a great start!

Here's a link to my list. The books I've already read are highlighted. You can monitor my progress. And please, feel free to ask me for a suggestion if you are in the mood to read something. I particularly love young adult, historical nonfiction, contemporary fiction, and multicultural literature so I can give you any advice in those categories.

Ok, so I am totally envious about the fact that you read. I really hate it! I always say I don't have any time to do that...But then I make a quilt or something like that, so I know I could do it. I am going to have to work on another excuse! One problem I have is that when I start a book I have to know what happens in the end, so I just have a hard time not being able to read it all the way through. I hate stopping and starting.

Wow..I love to read, but I don't think that I have read 100 books. That is pretty sad! Well, Fran is funny...she looks at everyones blog, but doesn't actually have one of her own:). Her internet is a little bit slower, and I don't blame her for not wanting to wait that long. I have been meaning to do a post of her, but haven't done it yet. Maybe I can talk her into coming to my house and using my internet to blog! Hey, good idea Jodi :) lol. Anyway, I do love Josh Groban, although I don't think my husband looks that much like him :). Well, I will get to reading more of your favorite books and expand my mind. No wonder you are an english teacher! You are awesome. Well, this is a really long comment so bye!

Ha ha. Your comment didn't freak me out at all. Ali tells me funny stories about you all the time. I wish we could know each other better too! The stories are so funny! Al is a crack up. We all end up laughing so hard when we are together that we end up weezing till we all have massive head aches! If you are ever up here we should all get together! I look at your blog too so its okay, we can just stalk each other;)

Liz, I can not tell you now much I love to see others work ;) And I've been sooo itching to have a list like this. I've been bogged by books lately and I'm so doing this with you. Honestly, I'm not that fast either so maybe we could read together and see if we keep on track with eachother. Just for a try. I love to talk about a good book with someone who is reading it. Yipee!
