Tri and picture it.

My partners in crime. Sister-in-law Mel (Jon's wife) and my best buddy Marie. We look pretty happy considering we just put ourselves through a little taste of Hell. (Truthfully, I thought it was fun and I'd do it again next weekend if I could. But unlike Marie and Mel, I didn't really "give it my all." Therefore they ended up in the top 50% of about 300 female participants and I ended up in the bottom 15% :)

If you look close enough you can see a yellow cap rounding off near the dock. I'm pretty sure that is me. Swimming was the craziest part. People just swim right over the top of you. I swear a couple of people even pushed me down on purpose. I made the mistake of swimming sideways a couple of times. I was ticked about that. But my overall time was 30 minutes, right on line with my goal.

This is what killed my time. I took about 4 minutes to get out of the water and on to my bike. Ben was standing off to the side encouraging me to hurry up.

Coming home from my 12.4 mile bike ride. It was a gorgeous trail. No big hills, just LONG hills, which I think might be worse. Time: 54 minutes. I should have done better.

That's right, I sprinted across the finish line. The 3 mile run took me about 40 minutes, which is pretty good considering that is how long it takes me even without the swim and the bike before hand.

Like I said, it was a lot of fun. I chatted with some great people along the way. I loved training and am actually kind of sad I don't have this to look forward to anymore. I definitely recommend a Triathlon to anyone (there were people even more overweight than me doing it and a 75-year-old man!). I especially recommend it to people who tamper with the idea of running a marathon but just think it would be torture. A sprint Tri takes less time to complete and you get a nice break in your workouts cause there are three events instead of just one.

My little Cheerleaders. Jaedon and Livy were so good considering they just had to sit there for about 2 hours.

Good job Liz! I definitely would drown if I had to be in the water for 1/2 hour without a life jacket.

WOW!!! I am moi impressed. I have tampered with the idea of a marathon and, though that seems tortorous, a triatholon almost seems worse!!! But, way to go! I do love the feeling after races though. :) PS I am assuming you watched the last pres. debates and did you just want to gag after McCain said "my friends" for the ten thousandeth time? ick!!!
