Cousins

I just have a few more Utah pictures I want to post, then I'll be all finished up with our 2 1/2 month old Utah trip.

Reid and I went out a week before Ben and my brothers arrived. I always figure if I'm going to spend the money on a flight, I might as well get a good long stay out of it. In the past Reid has been a great traveler, but in the past he wasn't a toddler nor was I pregnant. So I was a bit anxious, but once again he did fine. I'm bummed that is the last time he can fly for free on my lap. Now comes the really expensive travel.

My oldest brother lives just a couple blocks from my parents, so we were able to spend lots of time with them before the big Bassett crowd arrived. I think Reid had a little crush on Ava. He'd walk around grandma's house calling "Aba, Aba" when she wasn't there. And if I told him we were going to "Ava's house" his little eyes would beam.

I think his favorite part of that first week in Utah though, was helping Grandma water her flower beds and vegetable garden. She spoiled him pretty well too, he'd get to keep the hose on till he was soaking wet once she was done.

The day Ben arrived we hung out in SLC and went to lunch with some old friends. Then we spent the afternoon with two of his sisters. Reid got to play with cousin Jazella then. They are the same age so it is always fun to see how the interact. It was nice to go to dinner with Bizzie and Steve, they are so perfect for each other.

Back in Delta marked the beginning of all the Bassett commotion. Reid quickly fell in love with Sofia, and followed her around anytime she went outside, or downstairs, or just about anywhere.

He really thought he should be part of the "big kid" fun, and I love this picture cause it shows a) how he couldn't keep up with the big kids and b) how Sof really was his buddy.

When the big extended family reunion wasn't happening, Grandma was planning fun activities of her own. The kids spent hours playing with her homemade play doh, and the "science camp" was a huge hit, for kids and dads alike.

Sunday morning Mel took a nice family photo of us all. Then Monday night she gave Reid (and Ben) their summer haircuts. Reid wasn't quiet as upset about this haircut as he was his summer '11 haircut.  But he still cried through most of it.

My mom's house felt so full and so busy that 2nd week there, but it sure was a lot of fun seeing all my brothers again. This summer was much better than last, since we had all the spouses and a new cousin as well.
