My Messy Reward

This is the mess that is my front room. Every day.

We rearranged the room just before putting our Christmas tree up, and I intentionally made the space totally lopsided. The people at HGTV would die if they walked in to my house (which they can't, seems how the front door is blocked by three bins of Lego Duplos). Our sectional couch is split up in the random-est way and our entertainment center is shoved into a corner.

But I love it.

I decided I am going to embrace the stage of life I am in right now. I have three kids ages 4 and under. In the hours between 8 am and 7 pm my house is going to be a disaster.

And that is totally okay.

After Nell went down for a nap I walked out into my front room and almost died. It was seriously the biggest mess ever, but I immediately let it go. This is my reward, I thought to myself. It is the trophy of motherhood. Toys and giggles scattered all over my house. Tiny hand prints on every mirror and window.

A proud boy who sends his construction trucks on break so he can play with his sister, his best friend, and her princess castle -- it is my happiness, and my reward.

Yes, and your poor mother never received that trophy award. First off my children never had so many toys and second my ocd would simply not allow it. So sorry your childhood was spent with a clean freak. Looks fun at your house!!

There has to be a "normal" somewhere in between. Methinks Mother and Daughter are polar opposites. Mom once told me she would like to take Mr. Myers and me and put us in a sack, shake us up and get one good principal -- likely she'd have gotten the worst of both of us. Love you sis, but I could never be so laid back -- as you well know! Love, Pa
