Well, now that you've had a verbal explanation of my job. Here are some pictures. Remember how I said my classroom had no walls. Well here it is.
I tried to make the concrete look better by posting student work. Those are "footprints" of Toni Morrison's Rectatif. Which is a great short story. My students did a good job on the footprint assignment.
Now the highlight of my year has been a little gift from Scholastic. Well, the gift cost as much as my parents house when they first built it, but it comes in the form of six computers and 55 sets of novels. The program is an attempt to up my students reading level. I really hope it works.

That IS ghetto!! It looks like some compound!... which in a way I guess kind of could be. Way to try and spice it up alittle though.
Liz I don't know if you remember me but this is Siobhan Spencer. I just wanted to say you are braver then I am. I've been to the ghetto in other cities but it sure isn't my thing.
Liz do you ever hope for a 'dangerous minds" situation or a "freedom writer" situation. Those are the shows I think of when I think of you! Liz your one HECK of a person. I think I might have peed in my pants when my first class came into the room! Go get 'em liz!
Wow!! I just read the explanation of your job and saw the pictures- and I have to say WOW!! Good luck!
That is such an awesome gift!! Is it all for you students?
