Definitely and Maybe

It's Saturday night and I'm sitting out on my balcony, watching the rain pour down and the lightning dance across the sky. I love stormy weather. Something about it is so serene. I get plenty doses of this serenity here in DC.

I just finished watching Definitely, Maybe and I have to say it is DEFINITELY a great movie. I found it to be one of the truest love stories ever told. It isn't perfect, it isn't even ideal. But it's truth. If you've seen the previews you know there are actually three love stories. That's one of the first truths, very few people only give their heart away once. I know it happens, my father is an example of that. And I'm sure there are many others (Ben claims he is one too). But I believe more people are like me (and I'll venture to add my friend Ali to this list cause I know she'll agree). You fall in love once, and it doesn't work out cause the timing is all wrong. But it ends well and you'll always have fond memories of that person. You fall in love again, and the person you love just doesn't give you their full heart. It's held back for something else, you're not quiet sure what, but it breaks your heart a little bit. Then you fall in love with the right person at the right time, and it's like the whole world stops to make sure you end up together. They love you so much it makes you want to burst. They're your best friend; the one who makes you whole. If ever something goes wrong you know it's going to work out . . . cause they are THE ONE and nothing can come between that. It's the most comforting and wonderful feeling you've ever felt. And you know when it hits you.

Just trust me, you'll like this movie. I definitely recommend it.

Now, the MAYBE is . . . well, definitely, maybe is more like it. I've caved and I have all of you to thank for it. I've found a triathlon, Oct 4 just about 90 miles south of here. I'm scared to do it alone so I'm trying to talk my sister-in-law Mel into doing it with me, or my best buddy Marie. Neither have responded but I'm hopeful. It's only a half mile swim, a 12.4 mile bike ride and then a 3.1 mile run. I've been working out for an hour everyday for a couple weeks (and haven't lost a pound might I add) and I really think that with the right training I can do it. I'm a horrible swimmer, I definitely have that to work on. Ben and I went and bought me some goggles and some nose plugs. Today I practiced the breast stroke, with his help. And the other day I freestyeled it up in our tiny pool. I'm so excited it's almost all I think about.

I have you people to thank because every time I look at a blog someones done a marathon, a 5K, LOTJA, or Triathlon, and on and on. I figure, why not join the fun. And it will be such a great accomplishment to add to my list of life achievements. I'm stealing Mecham's idea and I'm going to start a blog where I track my workout and my diet (face it people, I love to blog). So if you are ever wondering how I'm doing just look here. And please leave me comments of encouragement. I've got (WOW totally awesome lightning bolt) a long way to go but I really think I can do it.

Liz you are so awesome! I so excited for you to do a triathalon! And about the weight loss, if you're working out you're probably building muscle which weighs more than fat so don't weigh yourself just look at how much better you look and feel. It's better for the morale that way. :)

Only three more slwwps until you guys get here! I can't wait!

Oh, Liz,
Really, a triathalon -- that sounds hard. I'm not into hard nowadays -- I'm into easy and slow.
But I will cheer for you from the sidelines -- the faraway sidelines. You're a winner, girl!
Love, Pa

I really liked this movie too!! I was bumbed when it was "alice" for the mom, but glad because she seemed like a good mom, just perfect for that, and I was also glad to know he still had a chance for April. She was by far my favorite!! I look at girls like her and want to be like that.
