What a great new Year!

I love fresh starts. We started a new semester at school this last week and I am just so excited to improve my teaching. The Church I attend started new Gospel study and I am so pumped to learn more about the truthfulness of the Prophet Joseph Smith and his message to the world. I'm thrilled to be reading the Book of Mormon once again in 2008. I just love a fresh start!

Other things going on right now . . . Ben and I are watching the elections closer than ever. I'm still torn between Obama and Clinton. I just think both would do a good job, but I can't decide who would do the best job. So my Millard County absentee ballots just sits on my table and collects dust everyday.

I started a Basketball league with a group of girls from the Church I attend last weekend, I'm stoked about that. Working out does such wonders to the mind and body, I don't know why I don't do it more often.

I don't have any pictures to post right now, but next weekend I get to watch Jaedon and Livy while my brother Jon and his wife Mel go to the DC temple, so I'm sure I'll be photo happy then! I just love my family; I like everyone else, thinks my four nephews and two nieces are the cutest kids around. But honestly, look at the picture of Matthew's kids at Christmas time and try and tell me there is a 9 month old cuter than Ava! There's not. Bye for now!

The Holiday Season

The holidays were better than ever this year. After being away from family for so long it was more than rewarding to see everyone. For Thanksgiving my Mom, Dad, and infamous little brother Phil came to DC and stayed with us for a couple days. One major blessing about living in DC is that my older brother Jon and his family live just a short drive away in Hershey, PA. So we also spent some time there. I love playing with my nephew, his son Jaedon. I was very Thankful for some family time.

December was REALLY crazy. "A December to remember" is what my father called it. Long story short, I had some extra time off work and my parents came to DC yet again to take care of me, at age 25 - shesh! That is how the month started. Then Ben had law school finals, I've never seen anyone study so much in my life! Finally we had a week to spend together here in the city. So we became Virginia residents. If you don't know already, lines at the DMV STINK!

Right before Christmas we made it to Ben's house for celebrations. We had a ball. His whole family was able to be there (which is amazing considering there are 7 kids). They held on to childhood traditions and I have to say, I really felt like a kid again. It was so much fun. My time there was cut short because my last surviving grandparent died right before Christmas. So I flew home to Delta, Utah for the funeral. My grandmother would have been proud. All her grandkids showed up for the event and I had a GREAT time with all my cousins.

This holiday season I learned how much I love my family. Nothing is better than spending time with those who love you most. But I have to confess, Ben and I are both very excited to get back to work and school. I missed my students, and he actually missed studying!

See you all next month (I plan on writing monthly entries)!
