Does it matter if you're black or white?

Please feel free to hum the Michael Jackson song as you read my post title. I have a few questions for you.

1. If you are going to talk to your (98% Black) students about race does it matter if you're black or white?

2. If you're students trust and respect you, does it matter if you're black or white?

3. If you're going to steal your teacher's car, does it matter if their black or white?

I'd like to know what you all think before I share a couple of today's interesting happenings. And yes, I know MJ's song actually says "doesn't matter if you're black or white." I'm just transforming the n't into I-T.

1. it shouldn't matter, but if you're white, i think it does matter to others who are different ethnicities, which doesn't make sense to me - especially when a white person is a minority in the setting.
2. i don't think this would matter because in this situation, if your students trust you, they no longer are looking at the color of your skin.
3. again, it shouldn't matter, but i think in today's world it makes a difference of ethnicity when a teenager decides to break the law.

k, now fill in on the happenings...you still job hunting?
