Always learning

I'm learning some of the feelings I had this time of year at Dunbar weren't actually because of Dunbar.

Some educational reformists want to take away summer, that may be best for kids . . . but TRUST ME . . . teacher's wouldn't make it.

I'd suggest summer programs run by anyone but their teachers, otherwise you'll have to replace all of us, not just the ones in Rhode Island.

How can that be good for kids? Give me a break, kids need some time off to just be kids. I get so sick of this push of over achievement. I have no problem with school I just don't think it should completely consume everthing. Your first grader shouldn't have 3 hours of homework. Don't we want our kids to enjoy school rather than dread it? It makes me crazy and none of my kids are even in school yet.

Charles is starting to get teacher burn out. It must be the crummy weather and the need for spring break. Wish he got more than 2 days!!
