Delmarva

Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia in less than 30 hours. Happy Anniversary to us!

First stop: Prime Hook Refuge, Delaware
Reptiles, birds, and insects were in abundance.

Two random sidenotes:
-The above picture is for my dad. He loves cemeteries. This one was right inside the refuge. The Morris family owned the land the refuge is on back in the early 1800s. At least twelve of the family members were buried here.
-The babies smallest frogs in the whole world live at this refuge. Ben teased me all weekend for saying "babies smallest" when I first almost stepped on what turned to out to be one of the largest of the babies smallest.

Second stop: Assateague Island, Maryland
Wild ponies, crabs, and the ocean . . . everywhere.

Two random sidenotes:
-The horses really were everywhere. As Ben put it "I thought it would be like seeing bears or maybe deers, not squirrels." The horses above won my "personal favorite" award; they were right on the beach like I'd been hoping for.
-This morning as we left the area, we noticed a billboard for historic "Berlin, Maryland" film location of Runaway Bride. So we had to stop. By chance, we stopped at a diner on the main drive for some breakfast/lunch and it was the spot where they shot the whole "eggs at the diner scene." I think it took 71 takes. Yikes!

Final Destination: Arlington, Virginia
Ben was listening to lectures, so I found me a country station and cruised West on highway 50 -- the road home.

Loved the cem! Thanks for the pictures. When did the family live there and was there any other evidence of their stay -- houses, barns, etc.
I'm so happy you were able to enjoy some time together in such a beautiful place. Ma and I are getting really trunky about your arrival in a few weeks. Love, Pa.
