As I was packing up to leave school around 5:00 I looked around for something to take home with me. All my grading is complete, I don't have any pressing lessons I need to plan, so I grabbed a pile of high school recommendation forms. Why?
Why do I feel like I have to bring something from work home with me every night?
Did I really forget I have hobbies? I feel like it has been so long since I read a book.
This weekend Church ball started and I didn't even really want to go. I just made myself go, because I knew if I missed the first game I'd have a hard time jumping in and then I'd slowly loose my love for bball as well as all my other passions.
I spent 30 or so minutes on my keyboard this weekend. That's the most I've played it (in one sitting) since I got it.
What is wrong with this picture? Why have I let my job suck the life out of me?
Deal is an IB school (which I love love love, want my kids to go to one), and one of the learner profiles is Balance. I need more balance!

I used to be like that as a teacher till I realized that there will ALWAYS be papers to grade, so I used to just set little goals and grade like two assignments or three in one sitting and then take the rest of the day off from grading and move on to other things. It saved my sanity. I taught 3rd graders though, you may not be able to adapt such an idea with your level. :) Good luck with the balancing act!
Is it your job that has sucked the life out of you or is it depression? Depression sucked the life out of me, even with a job. One piece of advice a young man gave me: "acquire new skills." Always work on acquiring new skills. And, don't forget to enjoy the old ones! So...pick up on an old love or learn a new one. All of one thing is not good for any of us. Loved Casie's idea with the school thing. How is basketball going? Enjoy and have fun! Love ya to the moon and back! Mom
