I miss literature.
I do.
Since having children and becoming a stay at home mom there are many things I have chosen to sacrifice. Literature was one of them. Some of the sacrifices were intentional. I made a deliberate choice to end my career. Some were more subtle, like choosing to watch less TV/movies. Others have totally surprised me, like giving up literature.
How did I make this choice? Why did I let it happen? Wasn't I doing everything I could to avoid it? How can I change course?
I am frantic about this. I. Love. Literature.
And yet, I haven't read a good book in suuuuuuuuuuuuch a long time. The Book Thief still sits on my nightstand. I started it over a year ago and even read a large chunk of it via audio book. I loved it. Parts of it made me cry. I dreamed about the discussions I would have with middle school students. But I never finished it.
I cringe typing that.
I've started and not finished many books, but not fabulous ones. Not books I enjoyed reading.
I'm not sure what is wrong with me, but there is something wrong. That is clear.
And I have to fix it.
I do.

How could you, how could you, how could you not finish "The Book Thief?" I had to read for two entire days to finish it. It is the best book I have ever read. Get back to it, girl. There is definitely something amuck in your literary life! Fix it!

Noooo! I did not know this. I have to have my reading time, or I get a little crazy. I hope you can find a way soon!
