One last shot at Glenn

I'm not trying to upset people with my dislike of Mr Beck. And I certainly don't want to upset myself, so I didn't even bother reading anonymous's first two comments. I just deleted them. But here's my bottom line: I don't trust anyone who is making $18 million a year to tell me his opinion. That's why I don't bother with FOX News or MSNBC or even CNN.

I prefer my guys at NPR or BBC, who make 100K salaries, and who truly strive their hardest not to brainwash me with their opinions, but just report the facts. They bring me the story of common people all around the globe, and I love them for it.

Jen H.B. is absolutely right, Beck is a political pundit, and whether left or right . . . no political pundit should be taken seriously. They only say things for shock value, and to "stir the pot." They are certainly not worth all the anger and emotions they cause. But as Polly said, whether you love them or hate them . . . we all know them! So they must be good at what they do. I'll give Glenn that.

But honestly, this was not meant to be contentious. Thank you to my readers who can laugh off my opinion and continue to live their lives without getting their heart racing (or more importantly, without deciding to hate me). And a big shout out to TJ, I love our facebook conversations that follow these kinds of posts. TJ can stick up for me and let you all know I gave him the context of Faust's speech. It wasn't a speech focused on preaching social justice, I never said it was. But he did say "we preach social justice." I challenge Beck to take the rest of Faust's advice and stir up the devil by doing more than simply "preach(ing) social (in)justice" and testify to the world of Joseph Smith and The Book of Mormon (it was a great talk, I encourage everyone to read it. I love my Democratic, Millard County Prophet).

And finally, I totally agree with Tif and Albert, people who loose focus on what really matters by following any extreme usually end up leaving the Church on their own. Thanks for the gentle reminder that I'm not God and no matter how much I'd like to, I don't have the power to kick Glenn out.

You are funny. I checked out "Animal Farm" today at the library. I saw the movie in my economics class as a sophmore but I don't remember it and I don't think I got anything out of it. Maybe now I will. I will keep you posted.

Well this post certainly sounds like you are a product of your level headed mother and not a product of your bleeding liberal father. What happened to all that spitfire and spunk?
Glenn's Glenn, you're you and I'm me and hopefully we can all work to make the world a little better place.
Love, Pa
P.S. Define "better" for me, please.

Hello Sis,

"But honestly, this was not meant to be contentious." Actually, I did not find anything contentious about your comment or comments. Only found the contention in one response in particular. You say you 'do not trust anyone who is making 18 million a year to tell people his opinion'. Well, I do not trust anyone who writes a letter or posts a comment anonymously. Pay it no mind, like I say those comments belong straight in the garbage can. Have a great day. I love you to the moon and back. Mom

Ditto to mom!!!! Don't give Anonymous the time of day. And if /she thinks s/he changed your mind or made you feel better because of your "softening on Glenn and the right" s/he truly is as stupid as were her/his comments!!!
We know Petersen/Bassett's don't change their mind when they're right and when have we ever been wrong? The Petersens were commanded in a Sacrament Meeting in Deseret to be Democrats and the Bassetts were just plain smart enough to discern good from evil. And that was ages before the CTR ring was designed to help the rest of us make correct choices.
Laugh it off sis. I love you to Pluto and back!

I love the comment on the tithing. That is hillarious! How do you feel about the health care passing? I like that you talk politics on your blog. We totally don't agree on lots but at least you care. I just think it is important to care. Well, and to make right choices, but caring is a great start.

This is Jacob Nielson. I have only once concern with the whole matter. Republican or Democrat, liberal or conservative, fan of Mr. Beck and Mr. Gritz or in opposition to their politics. I find it compelling that we of all people would hope for and find joy and satisfaction in anyone finding their way out of the kingdom of God. I can't imagine that Jesus would want any of us to long for and be so passionate about one of his children exiting the church. Certainly there will be those who do, but I cant imagine that God would want us to hope for it or be happy about it. I cant say that I agree with all their political views, but surley we hope that they too may partake of the sweet refinment of the Gospel, make the changes neccessary to go home again, and thus experience the miracle of forgivness and the peace of the atonement.

I appreciate Jacob Nielson's comments and agree with them wholeheartedly. I spoke too harshly and accept the call to repentance. I get a bit carried away at times, as we all know too well.
I found most interesting an article recently published in the Salt Lake Tribune (the Devil's press). Living in "Zion" I hear and see far too much of this opinion and agree with Jacob that it is most offensive. I quote...
"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., was invited by a fellow Mormon to give a fireside talk at an LDS stake center in Las Vegas last weekend and readily agreed to speak about his conversion to the faith and his belief in its gospel.
"But when word got out that Reid was speaking, the reaction was so nasty the fireside was canceled for fear the meeting would turn violent.
"Organizers of the fireside reportedly received e-mails and phone messages threatening that if Reid spoke before the congregation, they would heckle him inside the chapel and harass him with demeaning signs and slogans.
"Those familiar with the planned meeting say his talk was not intended to be polit8ical, but only about his spiritual awakening and connection to the LDS Church."
We live in a world filled with vitriolic people spewing hurtful venom with every word. This is most certainly not as God would wish His children to act.
That we may all treat one another as the brothers and sisters that we are would be my sincere wish this Easter Sunday. God bless.
Pa
