So Wisconsin is an interesting place.

Who would have thought we'd leave the nation's capitol only to wind up in the heart of this country's political debate.

Things that make me laugh:
- The left is painting this as an "extreme government takeover,"  take that Republicans!
- Glenn Beck somehow thinks we are working together with the Muslim Brotherhood of the Middle East, what a nutter!
- Parents assume their children are going to miss out on a big portion of their education while their teachers call in sick, um excuse me moms and pops you educate your own child way more than three days at school ever will.

Things to consider:
- Yes, Government employees tend to have better benefits than the private sector, BUT . . . they are highly underpaid for the amount of skill and education they bring to their careers.  And really, could this country exist without them?
- More importantly, attacking Government employees IS an attack on the middle class.  Plain and simple.

The Truth:
I know the news is painting this as a "budget" crisis.  But it's not.  The State Employees of Wisconsin are more than willing to increase their pay into pensions and health care.  What Governor Walker really wants is to take away their rights to organize as a group.  He will eliminate their ability to ever ask for better working conditions or pay raises.

My question to him, do you really think the people who keep your state running are going to stick around if you never increase their pay?  No one wants to bring home the same paycheck for 25-years.  So good luck finding and retraining qualified employees every five years.  Maybe you should ask Michelle Rhee how much money that saved her?

You hit the nail on the head. I thought all along it was about collective bargaining and not the paycheck. Republicans are control freaks and have a strong need to stifle discussion/debate. It's simply un-American if you don't think or act the way they think you should. Based on their thought process, I am pretty un-American!
